List of Duties for RECEPTIONIST

Seeking the ‘best-of-the-best’ for the position of an English & Arabic-speaking RECEPTIONIST for the Embassy of GUYANA, South America. Candidates with impeccable accuracy in doing their work, who maintain Confidentiality, are proficient in Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint, quick to respond to text messages, have a positive attitude, and like working on Special Projects for the Ambassador are encouraged to apply. Reports to the Ambassador, while taking day-to-day direction from the Office Manager. Open to any nationality and gender.

About the JOB:

  • Fluent in Arabic and English for Speaking, Reading, Writing & TRANSLATING
  • The Receptionist hunts down information on various topics for the Ambassador, tracks the Media Sheets, works on the Embassy website (training provided), schedules meetings, arranges logistics, takes care of travel plans, updates documents, drafts reports, responds to visitors, answers the phones, attends meetings, takes notes, responds to e-mail messages, uses Microsoft Office Word/PowerPoint/Excel programs, and uses the printer and fax machine
  • The Ambassador requests something and your job is to figure out HOW to do it, and then DO IT. Often you will be doing things for the first time, and you will need to figure out how to get a task done with minimal supervision
  • Your work is PROMPT, SUCCINCT, and ACCURATE; you are LOYAL to the Ambassador and Office Manager
  • You quickly respond to the Ambassador’s text messages, including after hours and weekends
  • You adapt to the Ambassador’s unique style, you are rock-solid at maintaining Confidentiality, you get along well with the Embassy’s Office Manager and support her as she requests
  • You are open to feedback, learn from criticism, and evolve to anticipate the Ambassador’s needs/requests
  • You have a lot to show for each day’s work. You take responsibility for your mistakes and learn from them
  • You are truthful even when it is uncomfortable; not telling the truth is grounds for termination. The Ambassador requires the highest levels of ethics, integrity and honesty as the staff is a reflection on him
  • You show respect and address the Ambassador properly: Your Excellency, Ambassador, or Ambassador Doctor
  • You stay calm and deliver tasks at the fast-pace needed by the Ambassador and Office Manager, adapting to changing priorities and sequencing your tasks accordingly
  • You have a positive-attitude, you solve unexpected problems, and report your task completions by WhatsApp text message to the Ambassador and Office Manager as you complete each task. Texting is the preferred communication as the Ambassador’s job requires substantial time outside the Embassy
  • The minimum educational requirement is a college/university Bachelor’s degree (in any subject)
  • Must have >3 years’ experience as a Receptionist or similar job. Overqualified people are welcome to apply
  • Must be residing in Kuwait and have current Kuwait Civil ID
  • Must provide your own transportation to and from work in West Mishref, and are punctual
  • Embassy hours are 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, Sunday - Thursday. Ramadan hours are 8:00 am – 2:00 pm
  • Your resume/CV is a reflection of your skills, in how you show and describe your work history. Preferred candidates will have a resume in Microsoft Word, and previous jobs will include accomplishments. As mentioned earlier, the Embassy of Guyana is looking for the “best-of-the-best” and you will join a team of similarly minded people

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: KD310.000 /month
